The Whitford gives guests an armchair without the bulk of one. Instead of solid wooden arms, a slim black metal loop runs around the back at seat height and carries two curved timber arm caps, so the chair stays narrow enough for standard table spacing.
Construction. Upholstered plywood back, padded and covered in grey leather-look vinyl, mounted on a solid hardwood seat frame. The metal arm loop is a steel tube bolted to the frame; the timber caps are fixed from below. Four splayed oak-tone legs are joined into the seat frame with glued and screwed corner blocks.
Where it works. Hotel restaurants, private dining rooms, modern brasseries and upscale cafes where you want the comfort of an arm without a wide footprint. The arms stop short of the front edge, so the chair still tucks partly under most tables.
Options. Back and seat in contract vinyl, leather or fabric; arm caps and legs in oak, walnut or black stain; arm loop in black, bronze or brass-tone powder coat. Confirm arm height against the apron of your table: it should clear by at least 1 in (2.5 cm).
