The Holloway's backrest is a single upholstered crescent that sweeps around the sitter and carries on as the arm rest, supported on slim dark posts. It gives the support of a tub chair with a fraction of the visual weight, because everything below the crescent is open frame.
Construction. Slim dark-finished frame with straight legs and an under-seat rail. The crescent is a shaped plywood form, foam padded and covered in taupe leather-look vinyl, fixed to the rear posts and resting on short arm supports at the front. The seat is a separate upholstered cushion on a pan, screwed from below.
Where it works. Modern Chinese and Asian restaurants, hotel dining, private rooms and lounges. The crescent sits low enough that it does not block sight lines across a room.
Options. Frame in black, dark walnut tone or bronze; crescent and seat in contract vinyl, leather or fabric, matching or contrasting. Because the crescent forms the arm, confirm its height against your table apron on the drawing; most tables at 29-30 in (74-76 cm) clear it.
