The Hadley is a square-lined dining armchair in black-stained solid wood. Flat arms run straight back from the front legs to the back posts; a woven cane panel fills the back frame; and in front of the cane sits an upholstered back cushion in grey tweed, matched to a deep tweed seat.
What you see. A close photograph in an evening dining room: the chair placed at a green marble table set with gold cutlery, with more of the same chairs behind it. The cane shows behind and to the sides of the back cushion, so the chair reads light from the side and comfortable from the front.
Where it works. Hotel restaurants, contemporary Chinese and Asian dining, and steak or grill rooms with a dark palette. The arms make it a good host or head-of-table chair alongside matching side chairs.
Construction. Solid hardwood frame with mortise-and-tenon joints and a stretcher between the legs at each side, natural or synthetic cane panel set into a rebate, plywood seat pan with high-resilience foam, and a back cushion fixed to the frame so it can be removed for cleaning.
Options. Frame stain (black, walnut, natural), natural cane or synthetic for easier cleaning, tweed, fabric or vinyl upholstery (COM accepted), side-chair version.
