A wide, curved back paddle carried on two slim posts: that is the Kepler in one line. The paddle is shaped to the curve of the shoulder blades, so the chair is more comfortable than its compact size suggests, and the open space under it keeps the chair light to look at and easy to lift.
Construction. Solid hardwood frame in a natural ash tone. The back posts run in one piece from floor to paddle; the paddle is laminated and curved, then fixed into the posts with glued mortises. Side and center stretchers form an H under the seat to resist racking. The tan seat pad is upholstered on a plywood pan and screwed from below.
Where it works. Coffee shops, noodle and dumpling bars, fast-casual counters and canteen-style restaurants where chairs move constantly and need to stay square. The narrow footprint suits 24 in (61 cm) two-tops.
Options. Natural, honey, walnut or black stain; seat in contract vinyl, leather or COM, or a solid wood seat for the lowest-maintenance version. Glides in nylon for tile or felt for wood floors.
